WELCOME TO SILESIAN UNIVERSITY IN OPAVA
We are pleased to announce that the STARS EU Annual Conference 2026 will take place in one of our university’s cities, Opava, from 25 to 27 March 2026. This event marks an important milestone in our collective journey, bringing together team members, collaborators, and stakeholders from across Europe for in-person dialogue and connection.
The conference will provide a platform to celebrate accomplishments, tackle current challenges, set shared strategic priorities, and outline the roadmap for the next stages of our collaboration.
Under the theme “Transformative Education for Europe’s Future,” the opening day will feature the conference inauguration and plenary sessions. The following day and a half will be dedicated to working group meetings, thematic workshops, and networking sessions aimed at fostering open discussion and interdisciplinary cooperation.
About the Conference Theme
Transformative Education for Europe’s Future reflects the shared ambition of universities to go beyond traditional learning models and prepare citizens for a rapidly changing world. Transformative education is about rethinking how we teach, learn, and connect knowledge with real-world challenges. It focuses on developing critical thinking, creativity, empathy and active citizenship, equipping students not just with skills for employment but with the mindset to drive social, digital and green transitions across Europe. In a time of global uncertainty and technological disruption, education must itself become transformative, empowering individuals and institutions to adapt, collaborate and lead change in sustainable and inclusive ways.
European University Alliances, such as STARS EU, play a key role in turning this vision into reality. By bringing together diverse institutions, cultures and disciplines, they create innovative cross-border learning spaces and digital campuses that transcend national boundaries. Through joint degrees, shared research and collaborative projects, these alliances make it possible to design education that is more flexible, interconnected and responsive to societal needs. In doing so, they help shape not only the future of higher education but the very future of Europe, one built on cooperation, innovation and shared values.
